What Is CBD

What Is CBD?
CBD, or Cannibidiol is all the rage nowadays, but what exactly is it?
Below is detailed breakdown of what CBD is, where it comes from, and the difference between hemp and marijuana.
I’ve Heard About It, But What Is CBD?
Looking for a basic understanding of what it is (and isn’t)? Read on.
So, What Is CBD?
CBD, short for cannabidiol (pronounced canna-bi-dial) is a natural compound. CBD comes from the cannabis plant. But there are two main types of cannabis; hemp and marijuana.
Consequently, the products you can get online and most retails stores comes from hemp. This is where the confusion usually sets in.
Though both hemp and marijuana are types of cannabis, they are very different in at least one respect. Hemp contains a lot of cannabidiol and very little THC.
Marijuana contains a lot of THC. Interestingly, cannabis actually contains 80+ similar compounds called cannabinoids, which include THC. The reason you get high from marijuana is due to the effects of THC—but other cannabinoids (like cannabidiol) don’t get you high at all.
The more we learn about CBD, the more it seems poised to revolutionize medicine as we know it.
Where Does Cannabidiol Come From?
Is it Hemp? Marijuana? Cannabis?
Well, it works like this; Hemp and Marijuana are both subspecies of Cannabis Sativa.
Both contain CBD.
Hemp tends to contain far more cannabidiol than marijuana, and marijuana contains far more THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, than industrial hemp.
Unfortunately, some people have been misled to believe that hemp plants don’t have THC in them—this is technically not true.
However it is far more accurate to say that hemp contains very little to almost untraceable amounts of THC.
Hemp CBD extract that’s made from a wholesomely grown, CBD-rich strain of hemp is an incredibly powerful substance with alleged natural healing properties. And remember, cannabidiol derived from hemp is legal in most US states, so you can get it hassle-free (check your local regulations if you’re unsure).
As a result, at Happy Tea we use only the best-quality, American-grown hemp we can find—we want to get the power of CBD into the hands of people who need it.
But it’s important to know that CBD doesn’t come from the hemp seeds that many people are familiar with. Hemp-seed oil is not a source of cannabidiol.
CBD comes mainly from the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant.
Today, growers are smart, and they’ve learned how to cultivate hemp that’s higher in cannabidiol concentration.
The bottom line is that whether your cannabidiol comes from a hemp plant or a marijuana plant, it’s all cannabidiol to your body.
What you have to know is, CBD sourced from anything other than industrial hemp is illegal according to the United States Government.
Finding a high-quality hemp CBD source like Happy Tea means you’ll get a product that’s clean, safe, and 100% legal.
